12 Planets

12 Planets: "Pluto stays, 2003 UB313 (Xena), Charon and Ceres join in the new proposal.

Lots of news on this over the last day or two . Even made it to the BBC TV news last night and this morning.
The best summary is on pages 4/5 of this (pdf), the 3rd daily newsletter of the IAU General Assembly in Prague this week.

So this would mean we get planets, dwarf planets and plutons. The bottom line for planets is that they orbit a star and that they are massive enough for it's gravity to pull it into a nearly sperical shape.

As usual this all falls into the 'you can't please all the people all the time' reality of human thought but people adapt. When I was a lad Jupiter only had 12 satellites, Galileo only had to deal with 4 but now we have 63 and counting..

Can you have variables in domain names? :-)
