Education Anywhere: "
Tomorrow morning we're having an initial conference call with the folks from Sun Israel, Gilat, USAID, US Dept of
State and Dept of Energy to discuss Sun/Gilat‘s ” Education Over Satellite Anywhere” platform. Step one is to implement in the rural
areas of Central Asia, perhaps starting from Kazakhstan which recently launched
satellite and has some available funds for IT enhanced Education.
Gilat uses a VSAT network concept consisting of a hub with a central network management system and remote sites (vsats) utilizing both star or mesh topologies. We'll cover some cool applications they can look at running over the net like Elluminate or VX30 along with a Blackboard, Sakai or Moodle LMS. Maybe the guys at green wi-fi can help so Gilat can look at expanding their services into solar-powered access areas where there just isn't any power to provide access and protect our environment.
